Homelessness hits closer to home this year.

August 5 to 11 is National Homelessness Week in Australia.
And lamentably, in tough economic times like this, Homelessness has reached within the homes of many of our friends and family, something we all thought would never happen.
And as such, this year is much more important than ever for National Homelessness Week.
The housing crisis, along with high interest rates has made our loved ones or someone we know struggle to find a place to call home. From the elderly being forced out of their homes because of higher rents to even fully-functioning members of society with full-time employment living in tents because of low vacancy rates, Homelessness is much more personal and in our faces than ever before because both you and I know somebody close that’s affected by it.
As such, the team at Blessing Bags wants our fellow Australians to be aware of the extent of the issue of homelessness which has been made worse due to the housing crisis.
Our services range from providing essential items such as toiletries and food for the homeless to engaging with local schools to establish their own programs in helping the homeless.
Blessing Bags works hard every single day to help meet the basic needs to people who are experiencing homelessness, especially during difficult economic times like this.
But this week, we will work even harder to not only help the homeless in their basic needs but also to bring awareness and advocacy to everyone and anyone wanting to use our services.
As part of our contributions for Homelessness week, Blessing Bags is running a walkathon fundraising event called "Step up, Stand up for homelessness" where participants can choose to walk as far as they can, whether if its a hike or even on a treadmill.
It is always an honor for us to help.
